Zamek Lipowiec w Babicach

Zamek Lipowiec w Babicach to ruiny warowni biskupów krakowskich, położone na Jurze Krakowsko-Częstochowskiej, we wsi Wygiełzów w województwie małopolskim. Zamek, zbudowany w systemie Orlich Gniazd, znajduje się na wapiennym wzgórzu Garbu Tenczyńskiego.

W XVII wieku zamek doświadczył licznych zniszczeń, w tym pożaru w 1629 roku i najazdu szwedzkiego w latach 50. tego wieku, co zapoczątkowało jego stopniowy upadek. Po tych wydarzeniach zamek stracił na znaczeniu jako siedziba biskupów krakowskich i popadł w ruinę. Mimo prób odbudowy, w tym przez biskupa Konstantego Felicjana Szaniawskiego w XVIII wieku, zamek był stopniowo opuszczany i niszczał.

Dopiero w XX wieku podjęto działania mające na celu zachowanie ruin jako obiektu zabytkowego. Dziś zamek Lipowiec przyciąga turystów jako miejsce historyczne z bogatą przeszłością i interesującymi legendami.
